WE SHOULD BAN SMOKING
We should ban smoking because it has many side effects on human health and can affect us in many ways. Smoking can kill people. It is bad because nobody wants to die. Around 5000 people in New Zealand die just because of smoking! Every cigarette that people smoke is harming almost every organ and system in our body.
Firstly, it affects our lungs. Cigarette smoke is harmful to our lungs because it damages our cilia which are the tiny hairs inside our lungs that clean our lungs. Without these hairs, toxins from cigarettes may remain in the lungs and can move to other parts of your body which is dangerous.
Secondly, it affects the skin. Smokers tend to get wrinkles more quickly than non-smokers. This may be because smoking reduces blood flow and may damage our skin tissues.
Next, many of the chemicals in cigarette smoke end up in our bloodstreams, and can travel throughout our bodies. Also, smoking causes gum disease, oral cancer, stained teeth, mouth sores and bad breath.
In addition, children whose parents smoke are more likely to get lots of breathing problems such as asthma, croup, pneumonia and bronchitis and also likely to become smokers too. Do you think children should go near people while they smoke?
More facts:
Last but not the least carbon monoxide takes away oxygen from our muscles and even from our important organ which is our brain. Smoking increases our heart rate and gives cold hands and feet.
Finally, it is certain that smoking causes many diseases including deadly cancer. It not only harms the smoker but also the surrounding people and children. Therefore, in my opinion, we must ban smoking.
